H.E.A.R. is happy to honor David Schwartz as our January 1996 V.I.P.
We're thrilled to have David as our first honoree of this new year. His
contributions to the music industry and the hearing health field make
him a worthy selection.
David is Director of Product Development and Chairman of the Board of
Light Rail Communications, an interactive multimedia communications company
founded in 1994. Light Rail's first published product is Control,
a CD-Rom "electronic magazine" about music technology and media
Prior to co-founding Light Rail, David was Editor-in-Chief of Mix Magazine.
He co-founded the magazine in 1977 and was creatively involved in the
launch of Electronic Musician Magazine and the Technical Excellence and
Creativity Awards. David was also involved in developing the Spanish language
version of Mix Magazine.
David has been active with the National Academy of Recording Arts and
Sciences and is the and Executive Producer of the San Francisco Music
Fair and the StudioTech Industry trade events. Most recently, David was
the Executive Producer of Music and Multimedia '95. In February of 1994
David was honored by the San Francisco Recording Academy with their Most
Valuable Person Award for his service to the Bay Area music industry.
David has also written extensively in the fields of audio, music, and
acoustics. His published interviews include Quincy Jones, Billy Joel,
Oscar Peterson, Les Paul, and Garth Brooks.
In addition to these outstanding achievements, David finds the energy
to donate time and service to the music industry and the hearing health
community. He has served as a long term Board Governor and first Vice
President of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He sits
on the Board of Directors for the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles,
and is a valued member of the H.E.A.R. Advisory Board. David is a tremendous
asset to the music industry and the field of hearing health and H.E.A.R.
is proud to honor him as our January 1996 V.I.P.
