David SchwartzVIP, January 1996

David Schwartz

H.E.A.R. is happy to honor David Schwartz as our January 1996 V.I.P. We're thrilled to have David as our first honoree of this new year. His contributions to the music industry and the hearing health field make him a worthy selection.

David is Director of Product Development and Chairman of the Board of Light Rail Communications, an interactive multimedia communications company founded in 1994. Light Rail's first published product is Control, a CD-Rom "electronic magazine" about music technology and media production.

Prior to co-founding Light Rail, David was Editor-in-Chief of Mix Magazine. He co-founded the magazine in 1977 and was creatively involved in the launch of Electronic Musician Magazine and the Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards. David was also involved in developing the Spanish language version of Mix Magazine.

David has been active with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and is the and Executive Producer of the San Francisco Music Fair and the StudioTech Industry trade events. Most recently, David was the Executive Producer of Music and Multimedia '95. In February of 1994 David was honored by the San Francisco Recording Academy with their Most Valuable Person Award for his service to the Bay Area music industry.

David has also written extensively in the fields of audio, music, and acoustics. His published interviews include Quincy Jones, Billy Joel, Oscar Peterson, Les Paul, and Garth Brooks.

In addition to these outstanding achievements, David finds the energy to donate time and service to the music industry and the hearing health community. He has served as a long term Board Governor and first Vice President of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He sits on the Board of Directors for the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, and is a valued member of the H.E.A.R. Advisory Board. David is a tremendous asset to the music industry and the field of hearing health and H.E.A.R. is proud to honor him as our January 1996 V.I.P.
